I always thought it would be kind of nice to depict Elsa in a state of loneliness, after her parents' death. I always liked the idea that even though she lived her whole life following the mantra "conceal it, don't feel it, don't let it show", she still couldn't resist the beauty of her powers. It's her guilty pleasure; a huge part of her life which was the sole reason why she ended up away from the people she loved most, yet she still managed to admire it as well as accept it.
I wanted to capture her sadness just before she found her true happiness. This is like rock bottom  - her lowest of the lows. A moment where it feels like the world is against you, but you don't realise that from here on, it starts to get better.
This is also a little rebellious act of Elsa, as she takes off her glove to unleash a small snowflake to help her cope with the loneliness she feels without Anna. It's like for a moment, she remembers the days when she was truly happy. It's this rare moment when she was able to forget her fears.
