Mulan is incredibly brave and I really wanted this design to be a reflection of her character. I used some inspiration from her Chinese warrior outfit and incorporated that into her traditional matchmaker outfit. My aim was to achieve the right balance of masculinity in her fighting spirit and a femininity in her her caring heart. This is definitely what I loved about Mulan's character. She was afraid at first, but with persistence and determination, she was able to be of equal standing with her fellow male warriors.
